The 4th Mediterranean Tourism Forum was held between the 16th and 17th March 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Malta. The chosen theme for the Mediterranean Tourism Forum 2017 was ‘Hospitality of Tomorrow’ (HOT).
The theme was inspired by the need to emphasise the potential of tourism in generating employment, economic growth and stability in the Mediterranean region. The chosen theme is in line with UNWTO’s belief that tourism is a great opportunity to sustainably grow further our economies whilst creating the right foundations for peace and stability in the region. The Forum, which was attended by over 1200 individuals from 39 countries, tackled themes such as energy efficiency, the importance of traditional cuisine in attracting tourists, financing instruments available to the sector and the integration of technology in the sector.
